Welcome

As of July 2016, the former THTMA system has been operated by the Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County. Here at the MAWC, we look forward to continuing to serve you.

Starting in November, former THTMA customers will receive combined bills for their water and sewer service.

Welcome, and if you have a question or concern not answered by our website, contact MAWC today.

Wastewater Management

The Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County currently provides sewage service to approximately 50,000 customers, including more than 14,000 in the former THTMA service area.

Our goal is to collect, convey, and treat wastewater - and transform the raw sewage into clean, clear water for discharge back into the environment.

If you have a question or concern not answered by our website, contact MAWC today.

Notice Regarding Sewage Backup

To Our Customers: The MAWC would like to respectfully notify you that property damage resulting from sewage backing up into your home is the responsibility of the homeowner, not the Authority.

Most insurance companies offer products to protect homeowners from a sewer backup. Protect yourself from a sewer backup by contacting your insurance agent. Furthermore, there are mechanical devices (backwater valves) designed to prevent sewage back-ups available for installation by licensed and insured plumbers.

We hope you will take the time to consider your risks and select any options you feel best protect your property.

MAWC Wastewater Service Area

The MAWC wastewater service area includes Jeannette, Hempfield Township and the Boroughs of Arona, Hunker, and New Stanton, Youngwood, Ligonier, White Oak, and Avonmore, as well as parts of the City of Greensburg, East Huntingdon, North Huntingdon, Penn, Sewickley, and Unity townships.
